Southbank, Dublin

Situated just south of Harold’s Cross overlooking a tree-lined canal sits Southbank, a quintessential neighbourhood cafe. With an offering of coffee, brunch and a selection of artisan products, gifts and wines it will come as no surprise that Southbank has become an inviting community space for the local area.

The interior layout and aesthetic is reflective of both the immediate urban setting and the popular, meandering, leafy canal just beyond the cafe’s windows. An organically shaped, sweeping counter, fabricated on site, forms the heart of the cafe whilst industrial chair legs and planters juxtapose the soft curves and marine tones.

Warm timber flooring and playful HAY chairs balance out the concrete ceiling above while complimenting the earthy colour palette of ochre, burgundy and green notable in the metalwork and bespoke terrazzo tables.

With an emphasis on supporting local produce suppliers, Southbank has become a friendly, community hub, a perfect spot for lazy breakfasts, inventive lunches, quick coffee stops and a relaxed environment for catching up with friends. If we’ve haven’t convinced you enough to call in next time you’re in the area, did we mention it’s also dog friendly so your furry pals can come with.
