Rosetta, Belfast.
Situated in a quiet suburban street in South Belfast, in a pre-existing double fronted and semi-detached period residence sits Rosetta House. Availing of the double width driveway to the east of the house, award winning architects, McGonigle McGrath renovated and restored this proportionally magnificent home into a contemporary family space.
Stripping the house back, the architects reinstated period attributes with authenticity and restraint while adding two new elements to the rear of the property. Introducing a generous, social internal room offered Studio Terry a minimalistic blank canvas in which to design a suitable kitchen for the family.
With a back drop of monolithic materials in the form of flush pointed brick and terrazzo tiling Studio Terry created a warm, natural oak kitchen with white mineral, red and ochre flecked countertops. Working closely with McGonigle McGrath we carefully created proportioned openings and robust joinery details in the form of chamfered handles, clever internal storage units and recessed appliances.
