Instil, Belfast
Founded in 2005, Instil is a company immersed in a culture of engineering excellence. They offer a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers and educators to some of the world’s best-known technology brands, helping them create the next generation of software products that aim to challenge and inspire.
In that light Studio Terry sought to create an inspiring, professional and flexible office space for Instil to call home. Situated in the heart of Belfast city centre, we aimed to combine the industrial nature of the urban landscape with soft, Scandinavian minimalism to create a bright, weightless environment.
A monolithic, timber counter with the company’s branding greets guest. To counteract the large scale nature of the reception desk we opted for light weight framed glazing for meeting room pods and dividing walls. A light timber flooring was implemented for the main area of the office while carpet was used to soften acoustics in work areas. A monochromatic palette of navy blues and light / dark greys were suggested to break up zones and create impact against the white backdrop used to ensure the office remained bright and open.
Playful furniture pieces from HAY were selected for social spaces to help soften harder surfaces and provide a sense of calm within the work place.
